“NEW MEXICO SKY”
A painting by Patrick Love
Issue No. 12 – June 2016
20×20 Oil on Canvas
“I used to draw caricatures of my coworkers to kill time. There was a guy named Malibu that I used to draw a lot because he had a bleach-blond mullet. Instead of being insulted, which was the typical reaction around the office, he suggested I paint. In early 2015 he decided to move back to California. Before he left he gave me dozens of canvases, nearly a hundred tubes of old oil paint, and an easel. ‘New Mexico Sky’ was painted after one of several drives from Denver to Tucson to visit my in-laws.”
